More Info

For over a decade, researchers at UBC's School of Population and Public Health have been working in partnership with academic and clinical staff at the Uganda Cancer Institute and Makerere University to improve cervical cancer prevention and control services for women in Uganda. For the last three years, we have collaborated on the ASPIRE project in Mayuge District.

Mayuge is a primarily rural region in the East of the country. It is a truly beautiful place but, like most rural and remote areas of the world, has less access to health services. We currently work in Kigandalo HCIV; Mayuge HCIII and Buwaiswa HCIII all of which serve the regional population of 416,200 people.

Our colleagues in Uganda are now working to support their communities through a severe COVID-19 outbreak and country wide lockdown that is taxing the health system. With this fundraising effort, we will support the health and safety of our health care worker partners, so that they can continue to support their communities. Your donation will be used to keep health workers equipped with PPE and ensure access to vaccines when they are available in the country, among other things.

Thank you for giving!
