The Best Gift Is To Give

More Info

I still wear that 'Love Week' shirt, shown above. I was gifted it while volunteering with Matthew House Toronto. We were helping to give new Canadians - refugees - their first ever Canadian Christmas dinner.

I chose to volunteer in service of refugees for this reason:

I consider myself a bit of a nomad; I’ve moved more times than I can count and I'm pretty sure the most complex word in the english language is "home". I took my first international flight when I was just six weeks old and I haven't let up since. After nearly thirty years of travel, so many people from so many nations have welcomed me with open arms and extended so much kindness. I have had the absolute blessing of discovering firsthand the spiritual truth that we are one human family, more similar than we are different and more connected than we are separate.

Now more than ever before, it's so clear to see how much we impact each other; how interconnected we all are. I can think of no better time for us to be doing everything we can to care for the most vulnerable among us.

Please help me celebrate my milestone birthday - the big 3-0 - by redirecting the dollars you might have spent on a card or dinner or an exotic trip together to this little fundraiser.

On February 1st, thanks to you, I will have the absolute pleasure of donating whatever we raise here to the UNHCR, in support of their work serving and protecting refugees globally at this most critical time.

I love you all so much, and I propose a toast to our next birthday together; may we be inches apart, alive & immune, and more grateful than ever.
