Before affording a cart, the family have already purchased the supplies and have started trading in front of their house.. The daily sales is between $8.50 and $25 in the three days of trading - their business has started and as time goes by more saleable items would be added.

More Info

A family (wife, husband and three children) based in Siem Reap, Cambodia are unable to generate a steady stream of income to send their young children to school and also buy food and afford rent to their small room which they live in and call home.

The mission is to help them to start a business which would bring a steady stream of income and enable them to start affording their basic necessities.

There were two realistic options suggested based on their current situation.

a. laundry business at a cost of between $2,000 and $3,000 which would include washing machine, dryer, iron and basic supplies including facilitating clean water pipes, etc to start their business.  Estimated profits at $300 per month.  The negative side of this is that the premise doesn't have sufficient space to host the equipment.

b. selling groceries from a cart in the busy market area.  This would cost $700 for buying the cart, decorations, equipment and the groceries to commence sale.  The profit is estimated at $200 per month.

The family chose option b - selling groceries which will enable them to start quickly.

There is an opportunity to grow these businesses; but the most important goal is to create self-sustainability.

Therefore, I am seeking to collect as much of the $700 dollars as possible to support this family.  And I will cover the remaining from my personal account as its for a good cause.

If you have any questions and/or want to contribute or collaborate, please do reach out to me.

Thanks,

Alan
