Together We Can Make A Difference

7 million cats and dogs enter national animal shelters every year. 4 million never get out alive. Please help to change this horrific statistic.

San Diego Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Fundraiser

On June 3, 2012, Heather and Erin McDermott will be running the San Diego Rock 'n Roll Marathon to raise funds for the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation. The sisters are supporting our mission to reduce the number of companion animals killed in shelters each year simply because enough homes can not be found for them.

Your Donation

100% of your donation will go towards funding adoption, rescue and transport programs focused on saving lives. It will also benefit spay/neuter, education and training policies that help reduce the number of unwanted litters abandonded to shelters and subsequent euthanization. The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. Donations are tax deductible to the extent permissible under applicable laws.

Heather McDermott

Heather is a life-long animal lover. After getting her first pit bull four years ago and watching him grow into a huge lovable baby, she decided to become a pit bull advocate. She fostered pit bulls for rescue groups and eventually adopted another. It was not until she was involved with rescue that she realized the atrocities that happen to dogs and especially to pit bulls. She also discovered the Heigl Foundation and the work we do to get these dogs patched up, rehabilitated and into wonderful forever homes. Five years ago Heather ran her first marathon. After completing a Masters degree in Theology, which took up most of her time, she has decided to run another marathon before she starts her Ph.D. and this time she has recruited her sister to run along with her. Heather was thrilled when she realized she could combine her love of animals with her quest to complete her second marathon. She will be running the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in San Diego on June 3.

About The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation

The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation was founded in 2008, by Nancy and Katherine Heigl. The Heigl's desire to end cruelty and abuse inspired them to create an organization dedicated to animal welfare that would celebrate the compassion, kindness and memory of a beloved son and brother. On September 23rd 1986, Jason was killed in a tragic car accident. He was 15 years old. Throughout his brief lifetime Jason loved all animals, especially dogs, cats and monkeys and he lived his life extending compassion and kindness to all creatures great and small. The Foundation is his legacy.

The goal of the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation is to eliminate the needless suffering inflicted on animals by human cruelty, indifference and ignorance. To find out more about our work, programs and the animals we help please visit our web site at jasonheiglfoundation.org
