About Me

My wife, Nicole, has lived with complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) since 1994. CRPS is a neurological disease causing symptoms such as severe burning pain, decreased circulation, extreme sensitivity to touch, and loss of limb mobility. For many years, she was written off as being untreatable and incurable. There were times when she had no use of her right hand and minimal use of her arm. Painful flares made it impossible for her to stand or walk, causing her to be confined to a bed or wheelchair; and what worked best for her at treating the pain was taking high doses of pain medications. Over the course of several excruciating years, she was fortunate to find a combination of nonpharmaceutical treatments that worked to manage her pain. I know that to some extent pain will always be a part of her life. Yet I also know she continues to get a little stronger each day. Our lives now center on happier times being together as a family of five. My life is CrossFit, family and friends. I thank you all for supporting this cause, participating in this event and raising awareness about chronic pain conditions. Please forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too. Every dollar counts!

More Info

On December 7, CrossFit Los Altos will host Fight Gone Bad to raise awareness about chronic pain and funds for the U.S. Pain Foundation’s support group offerings.

There are 50 million Americans who live with chronic pain. Sadly, many of these individuals are left feeling helpless and isolated. In fact, a 2018 study found that more than 10 percent of all suicides in the United States involved someone with chronic pain.

These individuals need and deserve to feel connected and supported. Your donation makes a difference by allowing us to expand our support group offerings.

The goal: to raise $25,000! These funds would allow the organization to host two support group leader trainings in 2020, which would further expand its outreach in local communities nationwide.

While there is no fundraising minimum to participate, for those whose friends may want to donate in support of your efforts, please become a “Fundraiser.” It is a simple process with many ways to share your personal fundraising page!

Those who donate $50 or raise $100 receive a ‘CrossFit Los Altos FGB’ T-shirt the day of the event. However, to ensure your preferred shirt size, a pledge or donation must be made by November 29. (We cannot guarantee your preferred shirt size after that date.)
