The Rotary Alumni Association of Greater New England is pleased to support the steadfast efforts of the Razia's Ray of Hope Foundation and the Zabuli Education Center in Afghanistan in their mission to provide excellent education to girls.

For the past six years, the Zabuli Education Center has provided hundreds of young girls a top-notch, free education. In a region with one of the lowest literacy rates in the world, the school provides groundbreaking instruction to more than 400 Afghan girls who were previously denied educational opportunities. Students range in age from four to twenty-two. The curriculum is both academic and practical, taught by experienced, native teachers. Last summer, RAAGNE raised funds to support Razia’s Ray of Hope Foundation in purchasing a desktop for use in the education center.

The Zabuli Education Center was founded by Afghan native Razia Jan, who was recently recognized as a leader in developing solutions to the many challenges and obstacles that women and young girls face. Razia’s school has been very successful in providing girls a private education through Grade 12, but now faces the dilemma of providing them continuing education and opportunities.

To support these efforts, several other Rotary clubs have already made the commitment to raise at least $800 each, meeting the minimum requirement to apply for a Global Grant from The Rotary Foundation.

Every dollar that RAAGNE raises will be matched with $1.50 from our district partner and The Rotary Foundation. This means that Razia’s school will get $2.50 for every $1 that RAAGNE gives!

RAAGNE is committed to this cause and plans to continue our support for Razia by campaigning alongside other Rotary clubs to raise funds towards creating a Rotary Foundation Global Grant. Funding will go towards a creating a continuing education facility after the students have graduated from 12th grade.
