This summer a group of Port Chester High School students have come together to fight hunger in our community. We call ourselves the PC Hunger Fighters.
Did you know 40 million Americans are food insecure? People facing food insecurity and hunger often miss meals and rely on the only food they can afford – cheap choices high in calories but low in nutrients. The numbers are staggering.
1 in 5 people in Westchester will experience food insecurity this year.
HUNGER BY THE NUMBERS IN WESTCHESTER COUNTY:
200,000 Food insecure individuals
While the numbers are staggering, we believe that hunger is a solvable problem in our community.
60,000 Food Insecure Children
For many of these children, school meals may be the only ones they eat.
We are trying to decrease the number of food insecure families throughout our community.
To achieve our goal, we will be working in the Port Chester Community Gardens. These gardens were built to provide healthy food to the citizens of Port Chester. PC Hunger Fighters will be building vertical gardens at the Weber Community Garden. Building vertical gardens will maximize growing space inside the garden and provide more nutritious food for the Weber Drive residents.
Here is how you can help:

We are accepting donations to help us fund our project and whatever additional funding we can raise will go directly to The Port Chester Community Gardens.
No matter how little, all donations will contribute a lot to our project. We hope you will help us make a difference in our community, because we believe that no child should go to bed hungry.
Thank you so much!
