Update #3

Pastor Mark is like a father to all the children he has rescued from the streets. They are always in need of everyday provisions, especially food and medicine. Any financial assistance is a blessing to keep them from being hungry and help them feel safe. As Pastor Mark says, "Children are the future.".

More Info

  • Right now, the urgent need is for Medicine and Food during the Malaria Crisis- 100% of every donation goes directly to Pastor Mark & the Orphans immediately. Please Help.
  • For the past couple years a small group of 3 people here in Texas have been providing funds to feed and clothe 40+ orphans in Ghana. Last year we found ways to increase support, but still just 3 of us are involved on a regular basis.
  • In late 2012  he discovered that the environment in Liberia was better for the children and has moved the orphans from Ghana (where they were staying in a refugee tent camp) to Monrovia, Liberia and have all 5 dozen + together along with his own wife and child, plus 5 volunteers.
  • They have acquired a vehicle that is reliable and will transport at least 5 people, but a bus would be ideal. Vehicles are hard to come by over there & currently the children must walk everywhere.
  • Pastor Mark has secured a dwelling for the time being to get the children off the streets and have a home base for sleeping and doing school activities. BUT there is no electricity or indoor plumbing.
  • We are raising funds to continue building a dwelling, office, and school; we are paying off some land near the edge of town where they can grow food to eat and sell, as well as raise goats for milk and other agricultural purposes.
  • All this will require much more than our family here can afford, so we are reaching out to other communities and individuals to help with any amount. The monsoon season starts in April bringing the mosquitoes and, with them, malaria and lasts until early fall. We have sent mosquito netting a few times over the years, but the children really need improved shelter from the storms and flooding, as well.
  • we have authorization for a privately run school for all the children so they will not have to trudge across town everyday in all kinds of weather for public school. A generous businessman provided a building with the space for everyone, but we still need to get indoor plumbing and electricity.
  • A plot of land on the outskirts of town has been donated to the cause and  construction has begun for a shelter. There are plans for farming, a few animals like chickens and goats that will passively add to to nutrition for the children as well as fertilizer for the crops.
  • We want to add life skills to the school including sewing, animal husbandry, and mechanics to teach the charges a trade they can employ after they leave the home.

Soccer anyone?

The kiddos love soccer and now they can look like a TEAM. With Numbered Jerseys and the matching shorts they recently received they can feel more like they belong to a big family.

Thanksgiving Blessings!

I'm thinking about spending most of my Christmas budget on the Orphans in West Africa. Pastor Mark wants to put on a pageant with singing and dancing and get the local TV to come film it in hopes of bringing about local awareness of the foundation.
They are in the process of installing a "Modern Toilet" in preparation for opening a sanctioned school the first part of next year. Now that is a blessing we all take for granted here in America.
I feel so blessed to live in America, and have so much already...won't you help me spread the word about the orphans who are being housed, clothed, and fed all through the generosity of others. It is a good cause that God is blessing in ways we can't even fathom.
Just to see them smiling & happy warms my heart more than any store bought gift I could receive.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
