One thing we all know is that Miss Maggie is one very special teacher and human being. She is more than a pre-school teacher whose class parents would do anything to have their child in her class. She is more than a mother, who has one child starting college. She is more than a friend, who would give her shirt off her back.

Maggie Vaknin is one of the few people gifted with the innate ability to create joy in each and every child she ever meets. When she enters your life, you are forever inspired by her genuine kindness and love for all the kids she teaches.

Around 2009, Maggie had a liver hepatic hemangioma (which is a benign tumor that caused her liver to rupture). Shortly, thereafter she was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer.  She handled the disease and treatment with dignity and of course, she still continued to work. These kids were her therapy. After undergoing radiation and chemotherapy for 5 months, she was pronounced cancer free.  Even with all this she continued to come to school everyday with a smile and kept teaching our kids and would not let this keep her down.

It is now May, 2014  and our beloved Miss Maggie, has been diagnosed with breast cancer again. She needs to get a double mastectomy in the next few weeks. She has two children, with a daughter starting college this year. This very serious illness has placed a huge financial burden on her. She has given so much to our children, that we are asking for contributions to provide for the medical treatments she is undergoing.  We want help her focus on getting better, free from stress and anxiety on how to pay for these bills.

She has not asked for any help, but we want to help her, after all that she has done for our children and for us.

Donations of any size are accepted with immense gratitude.
