Meet our runner: Bhaskar Manda
Running didn’t necessarily save Bhaskar Manda’s life -as some athletes like to say- but certainly made it more enjoyable. He ran his first 5K in 2013 with LSNA and hasn’t stopped running since. Bhaskar thanks LSNA for its involvement in community issues like housing and the 606, and thinks the organization’s leaders do a good job “working for their own fitness and for the fitness of the community.” Any goals for the race? “Maybe a PR (personal best) for the 5K and raise $500 for the housing team”, says Bhaskar, now a seasoned 4-year veteran runner.
The LSNA's Homes Team aims to stabilize housing in Logan Square, Avondale, Hermosa, and the CHA-Lathrop Homes that represent ethnic and economic diversity. We create a place where everyone feels welcome and has a voice in shaping the future of their neighborhood.
For the past 55 years the Logan Square Neighborhood Association has cultivated community leaders and mentors who are passionate about making a difference in: Affordable Housing, Community Schools, Early Learning, Parent Engagement, Youth Development, and Immigration.
To continue the momentum of uplifting our passionate and hardworking LSNA leaders please join us for the Bucktown 5K on Sunday 9/17 to highlight and honor the transformative work our leaders are engaging to address community issues of Gentrification, Sanctuary, Education Justice, and Cultural Preservation.
