About Me
Lauris and I enjoyed our 2nd MS Global. As you know, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis more than ten years ago. It’s been a long journey with many ups and downs. Learning to live with MS has had it challenges. As such, Lauris and I wholeheartedly support the mission of MS Global to support research for an MS Cure and to help people with MS lead better lives. This year we will be heading to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. There will be 55 cyclists and team members including 9 of us with Multiple Sclerosis. While we take on the Grand Tetons, we take on a disease that has tried to take us down as a family.

MSGlobal is an annual charitable bicycle tour that has been produced by professional cyclist Tyler Hamilton for the past twelve years. Its mission has always been to fight Multiple Sclerosis by supporting MS research and by making a difference for people who live with this awful disease. The earlier tours led riders up and over the Alps of France and Switzerland, the Pyrenees of Spain, and the Dolomites of Italy. More recently MSGlobal participants have enjoyed the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, the peaks and valleys of Northern California, the mountain gaps and notches of Northern New England and the vast and magnificent Canadian Rockies. MSGlobal 2012 was staged at the incomparable Lake Tahoe and the surrounding Sierra Nevada mountains, 2013 in the Big Sky State of Montana and in September 2014 riders enjoyed the beauty and challenges of Asheville, North Carolina.

Made it to the Rest Day. We are a little tired. Lin has been amazing. She fell on the first day, got some scrapes and bruises but has fought on. She has ridden over 100 miles. The scenery has been amazing. Evening programs have been terrific. On Monday, Lin won the Big Heart Award for finishing her ride after the fall. The remainder of the evening was about seeing old friends and making new ones. Tuesday, we had a presentation from EMD Serono, one of the major pharmaceutical companies involved in MS Treatment and research. We watched an extremely touching short movie about a NC High School Runner who won state championship in the 5000 meters despite her having MS. Lauris closed the evening by giving a short talk about our MS journey and the medical side of MS. Wednesday, we heard the MS story of one of our riders and her husband who has served on the Board of Can Do MS. We also celebrated the birthday of Rick Weinstein who has gone through a 20 year struggle with MS but is still fighting strong and riding with us every day. These people are amazing!

For the 2015 event 25 - 28 fundraising riders will be expected. With ride leaders, support people and guests the total group is predicted to number between 40 and 45 people and will include as many as 8 riders with MS. We are sending you this announcement as an invitation to join Tyler Hamilton and Can Do MS in what will be a week of riding through some of the most spectacular terrain in the world with an awesome group of people.
Revenue from our sponsors and registration fees received from fundraising riders enable us to cover all of the event expenses and insure that 100% of donations will support the mission of Can Do MS.
