LET FREEDOM RING

Hello, I am Joe Evans. I am running for Congress in Idaho’s First District, the western portion of the state. I am an IT Engineer and a Veteran of 4 combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Initially I joined the U.S. military as an Army Ranger. Later I was deployed to Iraq as a Military Intelligence Analyst for Operations Other Than War. Then I served in Afghanistan keeping our troops safe and helping track down terrorists.

If you never or seldom voted, I may be the candidate for you. I am a Libertarian. Idaho’s entrenched politicians talk about our liberties even as they trade our rights and earnings to crony corporations. I want to make Idaho and Freedom priorities in Washington, D.C.
I advocate to Bring Our Troops Home from pointless and costly overseas deployments. I care about Justice and Liberty, and I am the only candidate for ending the War on Drugs and for Justice Reform in this Congressional race. I believe in the Second Amendment.

The 2 major parties spend a lot of $$$ to make people believe that they are taking sides on important issues and voting for the best candidate. While on crucial issues the 2 parties are on the same side, being paid by the same mega-corporations.
When you entrust your vote to Democrats or Republicans, you hope that their candidate will represent you. What happened last time you contacted your Congressman? Did he go to work for you - or did you receive a form letter explaining the party line?

Instead, you could elect a candidate that best represents you. I would be happy to hear from you and will listen to you compassionately. I will represent you and I am ready to work for you in Congress. Electing me would not only make Idaho first to send Libertarian to Congress, it will also help Idaho thrive in a robust economy. Just as big government and big business now go hand in hand, small government used to work for small businesses and family farms. Like most Idahoans, I believe that we all can benefit from smaller government and lower taxes. And let the free market economy create diverse jobs, opportunities, and prosperity for all.

Government should not be making important decisions for you. Get involved in politics this week - the early voting has started.

BE HEARD. BE FREE. VOTE YOUR CONSCIENCE.
Joseph Evans.

LIBERTY IS THE LAW

Hello, I am Joe Evans, your Congressional Candidate in Idaho's First District, the western portion of the state. I was an Army Ranger, Military Intelligence Analyst, and now I am a Veteran of 4 combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. I advocate to Bring Our Troops Home from pointless and costly overseas deployments. I care about Justice and Liberty, and I am the only candidate for ending the War on Drugs and for Justice Reform in this Congressional race.

As the oldest of five siblings being raised by a single mother, I had to grow up and become independent early. I overcame struggles of my youth and in 1994 I joined the U.S. military and became an Army Ranger. Later I transitioned to Military Intelligence, where I kept our troops safe, and helped track down terrorists.

During my 3rd tour in Afghanistan the dysfunction in my army unit became so bad that Senior staff were able to steal nearly $3 million USD in military equipment, and a specialist under investigation for gifts received shot a Battalion Commander before killing himself.

Almost half of the women in our unit of 1,500 people have been said to have been sexually assaulted. My experience with the deterioration in command climate and the mission during the endless war left me disillusioned with the military and our foreign policy.

After my military service, I graduated with 2 college degrees including Information Technology Management, and minors in Nonprofit Management and Sustainability. I currently work in Data Engineering.

The 19-year “War on Terror” morphed from pre-emptive into self-harming. Would you agree with me that it is time to dedicate our lives to Peace and Healing? During my college years, I became an activist in Peace, Human Rights, and Economic Sustainability. I decided to run for Congress to change U.S. foreign policy and to Bring Our Troops Home. My greatest hope is for a better tomorrow for the world. Do you believe in Liberty, Peace, and Justice for all? I will be happy to represent you in Congress. Together we can be confident of a better tomorrow. Let’s do something great today - start small, plant a garden.

Recent events of organized police brutality show that the government’s assault on our freedoms has gone too far. Now is the right time to take our rights back. Congress is full of men that neither fought a war nor planted a garden. Let’s change that on November 3rd.

Grassroots supporters like you power our campaign 100%. Your contribution of $5, $10, or $15, will help put us in the lead.  I extend my gratitude to my family, friends, our community for their love and support, and you.

Update #13

LOVE IDAHO LIBERTY

Growing up in Idaho was amazing… The first house I lived in was right next door to my great grandparents. This was an old house with an acreage, an orchard, and we had chickens, goats, sheep and cattle. A tire swing on an old walnut tree in the front yard along Eagle road more than 50 years ago.
The diversity in Idaho is amazing, whether you are talking environmental, economic, or cultural. A constant reminder that you could do and be anything you wanted to in this amazing state. I grew up driving tractor and bucking hay during the summers, chasing frogs and snakes in the local ponds and canals, and watching the hawks and eagles flying overhead. Vacations were trips to the mountains to swim in the rivers and lakes. I was raised by entrepreneurial parents that did everything at some point. Their parents were farmers and between them, I had an amazing education on what it means to be an Idahoan.
While I served in the U.S. Army for many years, I lived in Washington, California, Texas, North Carolina, Arizona, Afghanistan, Iraq, Philippines, Korea, Cuba. I visited every state in the union and more than a dozen other countries. I always dreamed that I would come back to Idaho because of loving memories from childhood. We lived, we worked, and we shared with our neighbors, giving a hand up when people fell, paying it forward not just for our neighbors, but so that our children can someday benefit from the kindness of a stranger.
Idaho is often ranked last in various socio-economic indicators, but it is first in freedom, creating an abundance of opportunity for all of us. People in Idaho respect each other and their difference of opinions. Idaho is a freedom-loving state. Idaho’s entrenched politicians talk about our liberties even as they trade our rights and earnings to crony corporations. Are we ready yet for a new crop of politicians this Fall? I am running for Congress in CD-1 to make Idaho and Freedom a priority in Washington, D. C.

Update #11

Dreams of Idahome

In 2008 I deployed to Iraq for Military Operations Other Than War, my mission was to provide overwatch and intelligence support to military units in our area of responsibility.
I worked with incredible people in the task force, we made some good things happen for the communities in the Sinjar region along the Syrian border, Iraqi, Yazidi, and Kurdish. People of this multicultural region of Iraq reminded me a lot of Idaho. There was agriculture, industry, a concrete factory all in the area I was watching over. It made me think a lot about home and what it meant to be part of a community. I saw how the way we interacted affected the culture of Sinjar and I wanted to come home and our troops to come home.

I dreamed then that when I return home, I would buy a house and settle down, letting my kids grow up in Idaho, in a small town with supportive friends. Get a plot with enough room for a shop, a garden, and a place my kids could be happy. When I finally came home in 2013, Idaho was different. It was as if we had lost our way. America was different. We were already 13 years into the Afghanistan war. Idaho had been hit hard by the housing crisis of 2008 and my dreams of an affordable home to raise my family in were dashed. Gentrification and housing commodification had come to my hometown and moved the goalpost on Veterans returning from service.

Being able to come back from war and make a home was being denied to many of us as we recovered from invisible wounds, family separations, and missed birthdays. Running for Congress is about giving that dream back, not just for our Veterans, but for our children and the next generation of Americans. I am blessed with the memories of my childhood and goals for my own children. I am proud of my incredible children and what they have managed to accomplish in their own rights. I want them to enjoy the best of America as we work to give greater freedom to all Americans, so that people can choose their own paths in the world.

I want it to be possible for other people to realize their dreams, to be able to raise families not torn apart by combat deployments or prison sentences for non-violent behavior. Allow children the opportunity to grow up in a community that is uniquely their own, among friends and family.
My three goals in Congress are about bringing families together again. Bring Our Troops Home, improve healthcare for all Americans, and complete justice reform by de-legislating non-violent crimes in America. I feel responsible for representing all Idahoans and staying true to the founding principles of our freedom-loving nation. Today, I am happy to realize that I am not alone in that dream.

Update #2

Recent events bring to light how far we have to go on issues of women's rights, Veteran's rights, and military reform. #SayHerName and #VanessaGuillen bring home issues that both brothers and sisters in arms experienced during their service regarding Military Sexual Trauma. The right of justice is an essential human right that has been denied 63% of the 20% of our Service Members. #WomensRightsAreHumanRights
