Update #4

Now that Monsoon Season has finally come to a close we were able to start on reconstruction of the wall destroyed by the landslide at HKC! We are proud to announce that the wall has been completed; equipped with better drainage and stronger materials to avoid another catastrophe like this one in the future!

We cannot thank you all enough for your generosity, you have made Happy Kids Center a safer place!

More Info

In the early hours of Thursday, July 12th the city of Bhaktapur suffered extreme flooding after nonstop monsoons over night. The Happy Kids Center area was hit badly, with waters reaching more than 4ft in many houses throughout the community. Happy Kids Center also experienced a landslide on our property, destroying the property's outer walls. We are grateful that we can say that everyone is safe, however, the flood has left many people with insufficient food, waterlogged homes, and no where to turn.

All funds raised on this page will go toward relief for flood victims in our community along with the removal and rebuilding of the area effected by the landslide at Happy Kids Center.

Any funds raised beyond our goal will go into a Disaster Relief Fund. Nepal is a country prone to Natural Disasters and the 2018 Monsoon season has only just begun. While we hope that we will experience no more floods of this caliber, it is always best to be prepared.

As always, every dollar helps and we appreciate donations of any size! Thank you in advance for your support in this time of need.

Update #3

At Happy Kids Center we offer community meal days to all children and parents once a week. In response to the flood we offered more frequent meal days while the families effected by the flooding got back on their feet. Last week we hosted 3 meal days along with the distribution of rice, water and water purifiers! We are thrilled to say that life in Bhaktapur is almost back to normal. The flooding of our community was traumatizing for many people, but with your help we were able to show them that they have not only the support of Happy Kids Center, but the support of good people all around the globe!

With your help we have have continued to distribute rice, water, water purification drops, water filters and hot meals to those effected by the flooding in Bhatkapur over the last several days! While we have significantly exceeded our goals we are still accepting donations! Monsoon season is a force and we can never know what is around the corner, so every dollar allows us to be prepared for whatever happens!
SO MANY THANKS to all of you who helped us to get here already!

Update #1

RICE RICE RICE!
Within hours of launching this campaign, together we raised enough to distribute rice to the 15 families in our community most affected by the floods. Each bag contains 30kg of rice, enough to sustain a family for at least one week while they get back on their feet! This is just one example of how far every donation goes and we are so grateful for your continued support! THANK YOU!
