More Info

Hi,

My name is Florianne(Flo) and I am excited to run my first marathon  this year! I had prepared to run a marathon last year but everything came to a screeching halt as the pandemic took hold of society. I have chosen to rise up, shake it off and go for it again this year.

Join me on May 2nd 2021 as I run the Virtual Mississauga Marathon. My objective is to challenge myself physically, mentally and raise the bar even higher by running for and dedicating this race to Solid Africa.

Please join me in supporting this organization by donating to Solid Africa and lets cross the finish line of this marathon together and for others.

Solid’ Africa is a Rwandan non-profit organization aiming to support the most socio-economically vulnerable patients in need of medical, hygiene, emotional, suitable diet and food assistance in Kigali public hospitals. Since meals are not offered as part of a patient‘s hospital stay in public hospitals across the country, this leaves the patients solely reliable on family and friends to deliver meals.  80% of CHUK patients are from rural areas often very far away from their families and communities. As a result, they are unable to afford food and other basic necessities sold at or around the hospital as it can cost more than their average daily income.

Solid Africa helps them by providing food, hygienic products and other services with the goal to accelerate patients recover process.

Solid Africa core beliefs is that food is medicine. Therefore, as you support me in my goals of fundraising, you are indeed providing a meal (s) to patients in Kigali Hospitals and helping them in their recovery.

My goal is to raise 4220$ ( the distance I plan to run) which will feed 800 patients with 3 meals a day.  One healthy meal with a drink cost 0.83 USD (1.10CAD). This amount will provide 3,836 meals.

Solid Africa long term goal is to feed three meals per day to 1000 vulnerable patients of across 6 public hospitals in Kigali, namely: CHK, KIBAGABAGA Hospital, KANOMBE Military Hospital, MUHIMA Hospital, MASAKA Hospital and KACYIRU Hospital, and at no costs.

This will solve the important issue of food security that facilitates their return to health and wellness for an estimated 1000 patients in Kigali's above mentioned hospitals and YOU will have played a key role in it.

Thank you kindly for your contribution, support and for sharing this with your friends, family and colleagues!

Much Love, Flo
