Medglobal is proud to announce a collaboration with the SBK Foundation which is a non-profit organization run by women which seeks to empower rural communities through technology in Bangladesh and South Asia. In the interim we are raising funds to reach marginalized women in need with a long-term plan to focus on women's health and improving opportunities for gainful employment.

Especially now as Covid19 has and will continue to affect women in a disproportionate manner and even more so in Low-Middle Income Countries such as Bangladesh, we must act. Worldwide, policies and Public Health efforts have yet to address this issue. According to the UN while the mortality rates for men may be higher the social and economic impact on women and girls is devastating, potentially even reversing the limited progress that has been made on gender equality and women's rights.

Women are losing paid employment, unpaid care work has increased given school closures and teenage girls who are out of school, may never return. From domestic workers in the informal economy to migrant workers, gainful employment is now limited, placing women at an even higher risk of falling into poverty.

MedGlobal will join hands with SBK to pilot programs at SBK’s Young Bangla “Tech Hubs”.  SBK Foundation has established 64 Tech Hubs: one in each of the 64 districts of Bangladesh. Each Tech Hub is equipped with the technology needed to provide citizens in rural areas, especially women and youth, with digital access to basic citizen services like health, education, financial tech/banking, legal,   e-commerce.

MedGlobal supports the use of technology to build  and increase the resilience of communities in low-resource settings. The project with SBK Foundation will begin with a campaign to improve health literacy among Bangladeshi women stressing the importance of screening, aligning with MedGlobal’s prioritization of Women’s and Children’s Health with a focus on non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

SBK Foundation pledges to provide immediate relief now via Food Security during COVID-19 lockdown AND also Financing for Future Sustainability post COVID-19 lockdown.  (To learn more https://sbkfoundation.org/)
