Running in honor of my Dad.

As most of you know, in 2010 my Dad was diagnosed with Hepatitis C and cirrhosis of the liver.  This came as a huge shock to all of us because up until that point he had rarely had anything worse than a cold.

In 2012 he started an experimental treatment to clear the hep c out of his system.  This involved a daily regimen of medications and weekly injections.  Think the intensity of chemo but for a year straight.  Still he kept his smile and positive attitude.  Those of you who know my Dad well would not expect anything less from him.

In February of 2013 at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal my Dad got his second chance at life and underwent a liver transplant.  It will be a long recovery process but we are slowly moving in the right direction.  My Dad is a fighter and the strongest man I know, we are all excited to have him back and healthy.

If it weren't for the treatment and the transplant I know that my Dad would not still be with us today.  It is the funding from donors like you that give the CLF the ability to fund their studies and research.

Everything we raise will be donated to the Canadian Liver Foundation in honor of my Dad, Michael Schell. Any amount helps, nothing is too small.
