Climbing Kilimanjaro to Empower Women Solar Entrepreneurs

Dhruv, Rishabh, Mehul and Sumedh are attempting to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro at the end of May to raise funds for a collaborative project by African Solar Rise and Mama Bahati Foundation.

The funds will go towards solar products and providing training for underprivileged women in rural Tanzania, who are wanting to provide income for their family. 

After learning basic business skills and proper use of the solar products, the women bring the products back to their communities. 

This project aims to help solve three issues faced in rural Tanzania:

• Lack of electrical infrastructure
• High percentage of households below the poverty line (~40%)*
• Last-Mile Problem - lack of supply chain infrastructure 

* 60% of those households are headed by a female.
