The devastation from the floods in Chennai, India is unprecedented for the city of 6 million people. Monsoon rains have exceeded levels recorded in 100 years, and many homes have been lost, in addition to key infrastructure and functional capabilities of several clinincs and hospitals. The Indian Navy has been called in for immediate rescue and relief, but the recovery and relief efforts will go on for some time. I would like to direct funds to small reputable NGOs on the ground that can mobilize direct relief in neighborhoods, and I am working with a group of friends from college to make this happen.
