Help Me and Black.Man.Teach. Attend the COSEBOC Conference

From Jabali Sawicki

I'm raising money to bring Black.Man.Teach. to a conference in Jackson, Mississippi, where I'll connect with over 100 black, male teachers and share their inspirational stories.

Friends,

As many of you know, I recently (last night) launched a new project, Black.Man.Teach., a blog dedicated to celebrating and sharing the inspirational stories of black, male teachers. Through black and white portraiture and short autobiographical narratives, Black.Man.Teach. aims to celebrate the images and experiences of our heroic black, male teachers. My goal is to feature 1000 black, male teachers on this site in the next year. To accomplish this I’ll have to travel far and wide to track them down. This is where I need your help. Next week, COSEBOC (The Coalition of Schools Educating Boys of Color), an organization leading the charge to reform the way we educate our young brothers, is holding their national conference in Jackson Mississippi. The conference attracts hundreds of black, male teachers from across the country for three days of reflection, discussion, and action. I want to be there to meet them all, to photograph them, and to capture and share their stories. To do that, I need to raise $1000 to cover the conference registration fee ($445) and travels costs ($555). I am humbly asking all of you, my friends, to contribute what you can to help me get to the conference, so together we can continue to build Black.Man.Teach. one remarkable, black, male teacher at a time. Please visit Black.Man.Teach. and check out what we can build together. This is an urgent issue for all of our children, and I am passionate about doing what I can to make a difference. Please donate to the cause and help me get to the conference so we can shed some positive light on our black, male teachers. We need more of them.

Each one. Donate. Teach one.

Many thanks. Peace.
