WHAT IS GIVING TUESDAY

On Tuesday, November 29, 2016, corporations, religious organizations, families, charities and individuals from around the globe will join forces for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give. In celebration of  #GivingTuesday, let’s push our differences aside to create a better world for all - a world where everyone has a safe, decent and affordable place to live.

DUNK A !!

This year, we are providing a special incentive to everyone who donates over $10... the opportunity to send a staff member or AmeriCorps member to the dunk tank! This is the opportunity of a life-time! Be sure to cast your vote in the comment section when you make your donation. The staff , AmeriCorps member, and Habitat Young Professionals member with the most money associated with their will be sent to the dunk tank. The dunking will be streamed live and recorded so viewers can re-live this glorious scene for years to come.

ABOUT BEACHES HABITAT

This #GivingTuesday, we are asking you to support Beaches Habitat for Humanity! Aside from empowering our new partner families as they attain home ownership, your generous donation will help to create a more promising future for Beaches Habitat homeowners and their children. All children who live in Beaches Habitat homes have access to our after school education programs which provide tutoring, mentoring, life skills training, and scholarships to further their hope for a better life!

Did you know that prior to moving into their home, each partner family is required to volunteer in the construction of not only their home but other Beaches Habitat homes as well? Known as “sweat equity” this act of service helps to increase the emotional value of a Habitat home, strengthen the Habitat community, and leverage construction costs for the affiliate.

Upon completion, Habitat homes are sold to our partner families at no profit and financed .  So in addition to contributing to the construction of their home through sweat equity, each Habitat for Humanity partner family must pay a down payment and monthly mortgage payments. These monthly mortgage payments go into a “Revolving Fund for Humanity” which is then used to construct more Habitat homes.

HOW WILL YOUR MONEY BE USED?

Beaches Habitat for Humanity is built on a foundation of sustainability, every penny of your donation will be used to help sustain and expand our efforts of eliminating substandard housing in our community!
