About My Campaign

                                            150 - A small number

150 families lifted out of poverty- A big difference!

80% of the poor in sub-Saharan Africa are small-holder farmers; the vast majority of which waits for the rains to grow crops (only 4% of the farmland in Sub-Saharan Africa is irrigated). With low yields and low prices, they grow insufficient food for their families, and earn just enough money to survive, but not enough to escape poverty. The best way for smallholder farmers to dramatically increase their incomes and food security is for them to move from rain-fed agriculture to irrigated agriculture. Irrigation enables farmers to grow crops year round, even in the long dry, “hungry season” when prices are highest. It enables them to adequately feed their family and sell the rest for profit, increasing their income by 500% – lifting themselves and their family out of poverty.

KickStart is launching a campaign to raise $50,000 so we can sustainably lift 150 families out of poverty - and we need your help. That is why we are asking you to join our fundraising campaign. Get your family, get your friends, and start fundraising today! With your help we can make a difference for 150 families!

The person who raises the most money during this campaign for KickStart will be flown to Kenya to visit the field and meet families like the ones you helped. *This trip is made possible by the generosity of a Board member of KickStart.

*Prize details: A round trip economy class airplane ticket, 3 nights of hotel accommodation in Nairobi, a meal stipend of $50 per day, airport transfer, and transportation to meet KickStart families. KickStart International will not pay for alcohol, phone and internet charges, miscellaneous hotel charges, traveler’s insurance and medical costs incurred as a result of travel or actions taken during the trip, or any other personal expenditures, including purchases of gifts for personal or other use. KickStart International will not be held liable for loss or damage to property or persons during the duration of the contest or the trip.  The length of stay can be extended at the expense of the recipient. The Total Approximate Retail Value of the prize is $2,500. Prize may not be redeemed for cash value. Winning of the trip is contingent on individual raising at least $2000 during the course of the campaign.

* Eligibility: In order to be eligible for the prize, you must be at least 18 years old. Any individual who currently is an employee of KickStart International or on the Board of Directors are not eligible to participate or claim a prize in this contest.
