Support Needed for Veteran's Medical Recovery / Expenses:

Dear Friends and Supporters, my name is Douglas Chapman and I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to share a deeply personal and urgent matter that has touched my life.

I have been struggling with a significant health challenge that requires immediate attention. I've been diagnosed with cervical spinal injuries, which have not only been physically debilitating but have also presented considerable financial strain due to the necessary medical treatments and procedures along with being unable to work.

I was a Quartermaster Corps Honor Graduate in the US Army and I am a Gulf War Era Disabled Veteran who served with honor and dedication. Now, in this moment of need, I am facing treatments, surgeries, and ongoing rehabilitation, which are overwhelming.

The reason this is such a difficult struggle is because I have had 9 epidural injections in my spine in the past year and the results were unsuccessful. I am now looking at possibly having more invasive surgery, as a result. Upon leaving the US Army, I filed a claim for the spinal injuries (one at that time, but now there are three), but was denied. My VA disability compensation rating is 10%, as a result, despite this issue getting considerably worse over the past 35+ years. I also do not receive any assistance in the way of SSDI. Despite my situation, I have worked hard since I exited the service and am now at a point where work is not only difficult to perform but also to obtain.

I have to admit this is a very disappointing measure I am taking and brings me a great deal of disappointment, however, I have responsibilities as a husband and father which I would like to continue to honor, as well. My wife works very hard and my daughter is finishing college, which she has managed to do all by herself. She is quite independent. They have both been living here for 10 years and are from China, but they are still adjusting to the culture shock and doing their very best to learn and adapt to lifestyle, workplace, and educational system changes. I am also very concerned about what might happen to them if I am not here to guide them.

In an effort to ensure that I receive the best possible care and support, I've set up this GoFundMe campaign. The funds raised will go directly towards covering medical bills, rehabilitation costs, and other related expenses that are not covered by insurance. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a meaningful impact on my journey to recovery. If you are unable to contribute financially, please consider sharing this campaign with your network to help me reach a wider audience.

I truly understand that times are tough for many, and your support is sincerely appreciated. I have always been here for others, and never once considered or even attempted to ask for help, but I would deeply appreciate your rallying around me in my time of desperation and difficulty.

Thank you for considering my request, and please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I embark on the road to recovery.

With heartfelt gratitude,

D. M. Chapman
