More Info

Taka and Yumi Sueyoshi are the proud owners of " Sushi Matsuri", a lovely little Sushi restaurant http://www.sushi-matsuri.com/ in Lyons, CO.

The restaurant fulfilled a lifelong dream for this couple, but their Japanese/Sushi restaurant was severely affected on Sept. 12, 2013 by the biggest flood in Colorado's history.

Lyons was one of the hardest hit cities. They lost thousands of dollars in spoiled food, lost income, and damaged infrastructure.

On top of all that, they had many difficulties with their lease and now have to re-locate the restaurant.

And lastly, as if this was not enough hardship to deal with, Yumi was diagnosed with breast cancer in March,  had two surgeries in April and May and recently finished her radiation treatments.

It has been  over 2 months since the flood in Lyons and the restaurant is still not open.  The town lost its entire infrastructure including: electricity, gas, water, waste water and roads which are connected to Boulder and other neighboring cities.

There is  NO FEMA aid and NO Insurance protection.Taka and Yumi would never ask for help or charity, but as their friends we see their desperate situation. They have lost too much to replace by themselves and they are battling too many adversities  - they need financial help NOW in order to begin rebuilding their lives.

Your donations to help Yumi and Taka get back on their feet are greatly appreciated!! If you and your friends are wondering how to give directly to those that need it, PLEASE GIVE HERE.

We are grateful for all donations, especially from small business owners / entrepreneurs who understand that a business is not only a livelihood, but also your heart and soul.

All donations will be used 100% to get Yumi and Taka up and running, pay the mortgage, medical bills, buy food and supplies, and get back in business.

Please share the need for donations with your friends and family to give Yumi and Taka the room they need to recover until we can support them with their re-opening.

Thank you in advance.

All the friends of Yumi and Taka Sueyoshi

Check Out My Latest Campaign Update

As our first update to Yumi and Taka’s transition to a new chapter in their life, we’d like to forward a thank you note written by Yumi to accompany the photographs taken during their move from their original location of Matsuri Shushi. About 20 friends came to help them move. In about 3 hours the entire restaurant was packed up and loaded into a storage locker provided by the City of Lyons.

We thank you...Oh gosh...just thinking about all of these nice people in our life who want to help us in our most difficult time of life just making me (just Yumi, but many times Taka almost broke down and cried, too, but with JOY!) cry so hard again...we just cannot believe how much love and support we are receiving from all the Lyons people (oh except one person) and the beautiful community. When we moved our personal things from the restaurant on Saturday and throughout this whole thing, many people told us "We will support you no matter where you are." "Let us help you unpack and decorate your new place." "We will find you no matter where you are!" .... This is the nicest thing we have never heard...that is LYONS and our beautiful friends!!! We don’t know how to express our gratitude to all these people who showed up all of the sudden to help us move out our things and then disappeared like they did nothing...we just couldn’t believe how beautiful you are. We just love you all so much and we will miss you...but we will support you in anyway we can when we reopen...we are thinking and smiling about reopening someday and having a "Lyons appreciation week" and donate back to Lyons or something we can do...we are family!!! Love you guys!!!

Help me reach my campaign goal on #Fundly! You can donate as much or little as you want. Check it out: http://fundly.com/taka-and-yumi-s-flood-recovery
