Sean Andersen fundraising for Camp Out for Camp Hammer!

In the summer of 2006, I, 10 year old Sean, went to spend a week at Camp Hammer for my first time. Some specific memories I still can recall from this week include my Cabin Leader’s camp name “Gynx”, rolling in the mud, not taking a single shower, and crying on the final day because I had to go home. While I don’t remember much specifics of this week, I do remember the joy I experienced and the love that was constantly showered on me. Over the following years I would continue to return and my love for Camp only grew. From the summers of 2006 to 2013, Camp Hammer became a place of safety for me. It was a place where I felt most myself and it was a place where I came to know Jesus. After having spent 5 summers  and 3 years working year round on staff, I can only say these things have become more true. 

Fast forward to this summer of 2020 and sadly Camp Hammer has found itself not being able to run its summer program for the first time since its inception in 1965. As a result, Camp has found itself financially short of what is needed to keep its operation running. To help support camp, I will be Camping out for Camp Hammer on the evening of July 25th along with many others to raise money for camp. If you have at all benefited from Camp Hammer’s ministry or want to help support camp ministry in general, I encourage you to donate what you can. On top of that, if you do donate, I am planning on matching those donations up to $500 in my efforts to raise $1000 for Camp.
