About Me

Hello Friends and Family! I am so excited to announce that this October I will be participating in Habitat for Humanity Global Village in a service trip to Warsaw, Poland! My team and I will be spending nine days building and improving the homes of families living in Poland.

I am humbled to have been given the chance to serve the people and communities of Poland. While there I will not only be helping to build houses but relationships, that will inform me on the difficulties people are facing outside of our country. I have always wanted to travel and see the world, and it has always been my dream to experience another culture and if you ask me the best way to do that is through service.

I hope to take away a lot from this experience but one of the things I like to think I will gain the most of is perspective. By serving others, experiencing another culture firsthand, and pushing myself outside of my comfort zone I believe I will be able to bring a world view back to the states that will empower me to make positive changes to out surrounding local communities.

The trip itself is $2,000. This price contributes towards supplies for the home, food/accommodations for myself while away, as well as a direct contribution to Habitat’s work in the location you travel to and in support of all ongoing Global Village program efforts. Any contribution to this effort and sharing of this great organization and what they do would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your support!

More Info

Poland is experiencing a severe affordable housing shortage, where low-income families often have no choice but to live in substandard housing that threatens their health and safety.

  • Almost 1 in 4 apartments in Poland should be condemned.
  • Approximately 1 in 8 homes do not have a kitchen.
  • Almost 1 in 10 share a toilet with an entire floor of apartments or have no indoor facility at all.

Global Village is Habitat for Humanity’s international volunteer program. Teams travel to over 40 countries to work alongside communities, build housing solutions, and experience local culture. Our goal is to change the lives of the people we serve, as well as the lives of the volunteers.

About Habitat for Humanity International

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort on a community farm in southern Georgia. The housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in more than 1,300 communities throughout the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower. To learn more, visit habitat.org.
