NO LONGER ACTIVE - Project Honoring Ray Witbeck

NO LONGER ACTIVE - Project Honoring Ray Witbeck

From Debbie Sidwell

NO LONGER ACTIVE - Ray Witbeck is the longest resident of PPPOA & helped many residents when he was still able to do so. Let's give back to Ray for all the things he's done by rebuilding his fence.

This project has been completed.  Thank you!

About the project:

Ray Witbeck, the last man standing from the original residents of Ponderosa Pine, suffered the misfortune of losing the home he built by hand to a house fire. He pounded every nail in that house. His fence was broken down during the building of his new house and he is physically unable to rebuild it.

Let's rebuild the fence as a gift to show him that we value him, his service to the community, and his service to our country. Ray served in the Army and is a two time purple heart awardee. While we're at it, we can celebrate his 91st birthday (November 6) in advance!

About the build:

We will raise funds for the fencing materials, and ask for your help to rebuild the fence the week of August 25, 2014.

Please email [email protected] and let me know if you are available to help build the fence. We'll find the best day for everyone that week.

It will be a fairly easy project as most metal posts are already in place. We'll be tying 4' fencing to existing metal posts. We'll also install two gates, one as a focal point to the front entrance.

If we have enough people, there may also be some landscaping work we can help with around the house. The new home was placed so that the focal point is now out the back of the house off the new deck. Ray doesn't get around very well anymore so the covered deck and viewing area out back is a real blessing to him.

Thank you very much for your support!  The project is being organized by Debbie Sidwell. Contributions can be made:

  • Online via this Fundly campaign
  • Debbie Sidwell, PO Box 11, Carrolls, WA 98609, 360-425-2725
  • Sue Davis, 52160 Foxtail,  541-536-1617
  • Place in envelope with note on the outside stating Witbeck Fence in one of the PPPOA Payment Drop Boxes (at mailbox area or at the information sign)

Thanks again for your support, and we look forward working beside you on this worthwhile project! Ray and Teri have many friends from both sides of the fence. This is a non political event and I look forward to working together with you on it!

Debbie

p.s. I could use help with making a bracket that will attach a welcome sign to the top of the 4x4 topper on the focal point gate. Please let me know if that's something you can help with.  :)
