About Me

Hi! I'm Phoebe and my grandfather ("pappy") was Polish. His father left Poland to come to the United States in search of opportunity, and he is the reason I am here today. I have made it part of my life's mission to serve others. I do this through my career as a nurse practitioner, but also through regular service trips. Growing up, I went on annual trips with my dad to Juarez, Mexico to build homes with our church. As I got older, I began to travel on medical service trips. With this trip I am returning to my roots in more ways than one! I will be serving others through construction work, helping provide safe places to live, but I will also be traveling to the birthplace of my greatgrandfather. Better yet, I'll be doing all this with my cousin, Amber! Thank you for considering supporting me on this trip and in my mission of serving my brothers and sisters around the world!

More Info

Economic Housing Institute research indicates that almost one in four apartments in Poland should be condemned. Of the existing housing stock, approximately one in eight do not have a kitchen, and almost one in ten share a toilet with an entire floor of apartments or have no indoor facility at all. With a severe affordable housing shortage, low-income families often have no choice but to live in substandard housing that threatens their health and safety.

Global Village is Habitat for Humanity’s international volunteer program. Teams travel to over 40 countries to work alongside communities, build housing solutions, and experience local culture. Our goal is to change the lives of the people we serve, as well as the lives of the volunteers.

About Habitat for Humanity International

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort on a community farm in southern Georgia. The housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in more than 1,300 communities throughout the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower. To learn more, visit habitat.org.
