Update #3

Please welcome Griffin Muckley to the Education Team!

"I am a high school teacher at Christ the King Jesuit in the Austin neighborhood, but I also serve on the Local School Council at Kelvyn Park High School, the neighborhood school for west Logan Square. In my work, it is obvious that strong connections between organizations, businesses, schools, and families are important for building strong and inclusive communities! I love the work that LSNA does strengthening the community, but what really motivated me to join them in this run was their dedication to youth. KPHS wants to show their support and partnership in working with and developing our kids!"

About The Team

LSNA's Parent Mentor model is nationally and internationally known, studied, and replicated. The core belief is that the strength and wisdom of mothers (some fathers) can transform the cultural and educational realities of schools, bridging parents as critical partners in schools.

We empower parents to be their children’s first teacher so children arrive at kindergarten physically, emotionally and mentally ready to learn.

We increase access to higher education for childcare and preschool teachers.

More Info

Update #2

Morgan Halstead is running for Education!

This mother of two worked with LSNA's Grow Your Own Teachers program, Maestros sin Fronteras, helping candidates to become certified teachers with a B.A. in Bilingual Elementary Education. She says she's running because the race is on the same day has her birthday and she's "celebrating by raising money for the greatest community organization in the Chicago (the world?), who still has so much to teach us and fight for."

We're excited to have her support during the upcoming Bloomingdale Trail Run!

Update #1

As an immigrant from Nigeria, Iyabo believes that everyone should be treated with respect and dignity, irrespective of their immigration status. The teacher in her, makes her always stand up to fight for education funding equity. Working for LSNA has provided her the space to work with like-minded people to fight for social justice, education equity, and affordable housing among other issues.

She says she has never felt more empowered and convinced that she is on the winning team!

Iyabo is asking that you support her in this fight to win for the disadvantaged and the under-served within the community by donating to all the great work LSNA is doing. She will be walking/running the last couple kilometers of the Bloomingdale Trail Run on Saturday, July 27th, 2019.

She said that by participating in the race, she will “put LSNA out there and let people know about all the programs and the great job we are doing. She is taking part in 5k to walk/run strongly for what you believe in!
