More Info

The Komen Tissue Bank at the IU Simon Cancer Center is the only repository of healthy breast tissue in the world.  We depend on donors like you to help us save lives by discovering what turns a healthy cell cancerous.

What does a normal cell look like?  What are the risk factors before cancer happens? How do we detect and prevent breast cancer? Those are the big picture questions we are looking to answer with your help.

If you believe in our mission, please consider giving a gift to help us achieve our mission at the Tissue Bank.  Our goal is $10,000 and every dollar you give up to $2,500 will be matched 1:1! The first ten generous donors to give $100 will receive a Just Peachey Bearing Fruit Cookbook in thanks for your donation.  Both the match gift of $2,500 and the cookbooks have been donated by the Catherine Peachey Fund, which also supports breast cancer research.

Your support is important!  All gifts will go to support the general Komen Tissue Bank fund and can help us do many things, including the following:

  • Hold tissue collections around the country from a diverse and selfless group of women.  We are all in this together!
  • Support our new researcher Natascia Marino who hails from Italy.  She's delving into our samples from over 4,200 women and looking for trends and discoveries in breast cancer prevention.
  • Purchase needles for tissue collection.  About 175 needles are needed at each event.  Six needles cost approximately $1,000.

Become a part of one of our pink-themed giving levels.  Every dollar counts, whether you join the cotton candy committee or the rose champagne campaign!
