Jenny's Medical Trip to Zambia!

About My Campaign

I need your help to join a small-group trip to rural Zambia to provide medical and non-medical services to the local population. The mission trip is organized by Medical Mission of Hope to Zambia, a 501(c)3 organization that conducts this trip every year.

Mission participants will provide local residents with basic medical care and dental services. Part of the team visits a local school (grades K-9) and delivers basic hygiene and health supplies.

Zambia is a stable but very poor country in southern Africa. Hospitals and clinics are often poorly equipped to deal with the two most life-threatening issues in the area: malnutrition and malaria. The life expectency is only 40 years. 

As most of you know, I am currently enrolled in an Intro to Health & Medical Sciences class that has taught me not only a lot about the healthcare field but also about how much I love and want to be a part of it someday. This trip would mean that I would be able to volunteer my time and energy to helping in a very unique way and also explore and observe international medical practices! 

This trip is well coordinated with local authorities. The group secures visas from the Zambian Embassy, are given clearance to import drugs and supplies by the Ministry of Health, and those who are qualified are granted temporary licenses to practice medicine. They notify the US Embassy of their presence and coordinate with local police for permission to travel.

All donations to this organization are tax deductible and contribute to purchasing transportation and also fund supplies. All donors will also receive a letter from me after the trip telling you all about my adventures there and as many photos as I can fit in the envelope!

I need to raise $2,000 by the end of May and the next $1,500 by the end of June. While I know this is a big time crunch, I very much appreciate donations of any size!
