More Info

On Friday, January 10, 2014 Jason Merrow, age 42, suffered a heart attack and suddenly passed away leaving a huge hole in many lives.

Jason served with the Camden County Sheriff's Department for 17 years, during which time he was involved with the Drug Interdicition team dedicated to getting crack cocaine and other drugs off the streets.  He graduated from the FBI National Academy and was a member of many law enforcement professional associations.

Next Jason joined Blackwater where he completed 2 years of tours in Iraq, serving as a Quick Response Team member, working with explosive detection K-9's and as part of the US Ambassador's protective detail.

All this he did to fulfill his lifelong dream of owning his own business; which he acheived when he became co-owner of the Pawn Place in Kingsland, GA.  Business ownership was his dream, but Jason had recently taken on a part time job in protective security at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and had recently been re-sworn into the Sheriff's Department in order to help with both health insurance options and the impact of the economy on his business.

Jason was an avid volunteer and supporter of many local charities and organizations.  With little to give, Jason still found ways to contribute leveraging his business to support fundraisers and events every chance he got.

Jason is survived by his wife of 19 years, Dez Merrow and his two sons; Jordan Merrow, 22, and Dillon Merrow, 15.

Jason's passing has left his family without his income, his comfort, and most importantly his presence.  The impact of this loss will be felt soon, and their future has become filled with financial uncertainty.

Dez's primary concern is that Dillon be able to attend college when that time comes, but without financial support, more pressing challenges will likely emerge.

Any support provided via this fundraising campaign will be used to help with Dillon's educational future, Jason's final expenses, and the day to day costs of living a life without the father and husband they will never be able to replace.
