House Flood - Typhoon Hagibis

House Flood - Typhoon Hagibis

From Zach Brown

On Oct. 12, 2019, Typhoon Hagibis brought unprecedented rain and winds to Japan. In Tokyo, the Tama river overflowed its banks and some nearby houses were flooded. One of those houses belonged to a Pivot from Tokyo Labs.

Update #1

Hey all, final update: Dan is safely in his new home now.

I've ended the campaign and all funds raised have been forwarded to Dan and family.

Thanks everyone for your support!

More Info

Dan had just moved his family (including a 6-month-old baby) to Tokyo in July. He had just paid a realtor fee, plus refundable and non-refundable deposits equivalent to several months' rent. Then the biggest Typhoon in >70 years hit.

Muddy flood waters reached over a meter high outside the house. The first floor interior was flooded. Furniture, Appliances (refrigerator, air conditioners) and some clothes and belongings were all ruined. His family was evacuated and have been couch-surfing since the disaster.

To make matters worse, Dan is now involved in a legal dispute with the landlord who is refusing to refund anything (even the "refundable" deposit).

These funds will go to help Dan's family find and move into a new home, and purchase essentials.

Thank you! よろしくお願い致します。
