Help Eliminate Obstacles to Recovery with EqualSRQ’s Peer Training

Life can be difficult, and it's even more challenging when facing issues like illness, mental health problems, addiction, or trauma. During these tough times, having a support system can make all the difference in the recovery journey. Sadly, many Americans feel isolated and unsupported, especially those dealing with substance use disorder and mental health concerns.

EqualSRQ (Sarasota Recovery Peers) Inc. recognizes the significance of having a support system during these trying times. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we're dedicated to promoting mental, physical, behavioral, and emotional wellness for individuals affected by substance use disorder and mental health conditions - all at no cost to those who need our support.

Our team understands the struggles that come with these challenges and can empathize with those affected as we have been down that road and come out the other side. We've learned how to heal, cope, and overcome our own difficulties and are in recovery, resulting in a better quality of life. Now, we want to help others do the same.

Our Peer Support Specialists

EqualSRQ's peer support specialists are highly qualified, with a minimum of three years of experience in long-term recovery. They've undergone rigorous training that requires a minimum of five hundred "volunteer" hours. Unfortunately, many people who want to become certified and help others on their journey to recovery are unable to afford volunteering, and that's where your support can make all the difference.

EqualSRQ is setting a new standard in state certification with our innovative approach to peer training. By paying a fair wage during the supervised hours of the certification process program, we're removing the obstacle that has forced trainees to live on meagre stipends or nothing at all during their five hundred hours of supervised practice.

With your help, we can turn this vision into reality and provide continued support for those in need.

Your contributions play a crucial role in supporting our mission to make a positive impact on people's lives. We want to eliminate the barriers that hinder getting certified and help those who wish to assist others.

Your generous donations will be used to provide our peer specialists with a living wage during their required supervised hours, ensuring that 100% of your donation goes towards this critical initiative.

Our peer specialists have faced hardships such as homelessness, joblessness, and addiction. Completing five hundred hours of unpaid work can be a daunting task for even the most determined individual. By providing a living wage, we aim to introduce dignity into the training process, greatly increasing the likelihood of success for our peer trainees.

Remember that no one should have to face these struggles alone. With the right support system in place at Equal SRQ and with your generous donations, those struggling can find the strength and resilience to overcome life's hurdles.

If you need someone to talk to about your obstacles, help with practical tasks, or just a friendly ear to listen, everyone at EqualSRQ has been where you are and wants to help.

So don't be afraid to reach out and ask for support – it could be the first step on your journey to healing and growth.
