Bonzi- Ornate Box Turtle.

(back story: my name is Rachel, and I rescue turtles aquatic or teresterial. Turtles may be cute, but please rescue before going to a pet store.)

Her first vet visit was $226. I was told by the vet that the blood work will be $300 plus an additional $160 for the blood pannel. Please help Bonzi reach her goal to recovery.  Check it out: http://fundly.com/help-bonzi-the-ornate-box-turtle

Bonzi is a female Ornate Box Turtle (age unknown, at least 15-20 years old). In the state of Illinois (where she lives with me in my care) she is a "threated" species, and must have a permit issued by the IDNR in order for her species to be owned because their numbers are decreasing.

Bonzi was suspected to have an upper respiratory infection, however with a month now of receiving injections every 3 days, her health has not improved much. He eyes remain sealed shut and produce mucus, and she does not eat on her own. This little lady has however stopped breathing mucus out of her nose, and will occasionally soak in her water bowl from time to time and drink on her own.

Bonzi needs to have blood work done to test to see what is going wrong with her body, for this she will have to be under anesthesia for the vein that is needed is behind her neck up under her top carapace (top shell). Due to this, there is a chance she may not pull out of the anesthesia if she is not strong enough.

She still has much "spunk" to her though. She does walk around in her cage, goes in the water dish, and tries biting me, and when set down on the floor, even with eyes still sealed shut she will run across the floor.

Bonzi would appreciate it if you could donate something to help save her life, as well as her species that she is. This little lady will be very appreciative of it all.

We both thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

*Bonzi's vet is Dr. Jason Olech of the Chicagoland Mobil Vetrinary services, he also goes to the wheaton all animal expothat is twice a month. If you have a pet in need he is a great vet and can be contacted at (855) 838- 6625.
