Cheryl Cusmano fundraising for Beius, Romania - St Paul Thrivent Builds Worldwide

About Me

My son Nick, his best friend Quinn Gallant, and I are participating in this Habitat for Humanity build in Romania through our church, St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Grosse Pointe Farms.  We represent 3 of the 7 members who are going on the trip, and we welcome others who would like to join us!

From the first nail to the last, building a home with Habitat for Humanity International is a profound experience for all involved. It’s not just sticks and blocks. It’s tears and smiles, borne of hard work and faith. And it’s the knowledge that you’ve helped change lives. According to the official statistics, 35% of the housing in Romania is in a state of complete neglect and in need of urgent repairs. That's why Habitat for Humanity Romania has taken up the challenge of ending poverty housing, and to-date has aided more than 1,000 families.   We are looking forward to lending a hand this August, 2015.   Please consider helping us to help others by donating to our team to help cover the participation fee and travel expenses. Thank you in advance for your support!

Our Team is coming together

We are eager to experience the blessing of partnering with a family who is working hard to improve their life and future.  We will work in western Romania in a rural area near the small city of Beius.  Our travel is through Budapest Hungary so we will have a rich cultural experience both in Romania and Hungary.  Please let me know if you would like more information about joining our team: Cheryl Cusmano, Nick Cusmano, Quinn Gallant, Jennifer Callewaert, Jen Dunbar, Jim Meza, David Meza, Jackie Rouse and Mary Mobley.

Housing Need in Romania

According to the official statistics, 35 percent of housing in Romania is in a state of complete neglect and in need of urgent repairs.

Habitat for Humanity Romania has taken up the challenge of ending poverty housing in the country. Since it’s founding in 1996, HFH Romania has partnered with more than 1,000 families.

We invite you to join our Global Village team in partnering with Romanian families in need to help build safe, affordable, decent homes.

Please share -- we are trying to raise awareness and funding to support the work of Habitat for Humanity Romania. Working together, we can create positive change. Thank you for becoming a part of the Global Village experience!

Thrivent and Habitat

From the first nail to the last, building a home with Habitat for Humanity International is a profound experience for all involved. It’s not just sticks and blocks. It’s tears and smiles, borne of hard work and faith. And it’s the knowledge that you’ve helped change lives.

That’s why Thrivent Financial works with Habitat. And it’s why we want to do more. Much more. Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity engages congregations, Thrivent chapters and members, Habitat affiliates, and individuals from across the United States and around the world to build hundreds of homes per year with families in need, provide mission trips for Christian outreach in local and foreign communities, and directly reduce poverty housing and homelessness around the world.

About Habitat for Humanity International

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort on a community farm in southern Georgia. The housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in more than 1,300 communities throughout the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower. To learn more, visit habitat.org.
