About Me

Many of you know that I have supported Habitat for Humanity since graduating college.  I've built houses for more than 20 years here in Dallas and around the world.  Houses are not given away, Habitat provides houses at 0 percent interest to eligible buyers and the payments they make go back to building more homes.  Homeowners thrive, their children thrive, neighborhoods thrive, cities are revitalized.  Help to build a better world, literally.

About the 2019 Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project - Nashville, Tennessee

After more than 35 years, the donation of time and hands-on labor by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalynn, continues to inspire and multiply the influence of Habitat for Humanity in North America and around the world. Their participation in Habitat’s building projects raises awareness of the critical need for affordable housing – the heart of Habitat for Humanity’s mission.

Habitat for Humanity’s Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project has drawn more than 103,000 enthusiastic volunteers from all walks of life since 1984. These volunteers have built, renovated and repaired 4,331 homes in 14 countries during the previous 35 projects to improve access to affordable housing. The 2019 Carter Work Project continues the tradition and will be hosted by Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville, where the project will serve 58 Nashville families. Future homeowners will work alongside President and Mrs. Carter and hundreds of other volunteers to build 20 new single-family homes during the Carter Work Project week. Twelve other new single-family homes and 26 new townhomes will be constructed by 2021 with the support of funds raised for the project.

Your support can help make homeownership a reality for those in need of decent shelter.

About Habitat for Humanity

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort on a community farm in southern Georgia. The Christian housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in local communities across all 50 states in the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower. To learn more, visit habitat.org.
