About The Arc of King County

Established in 1936, The Arc of King County is the oldest local nonprofit organization serving children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Intellectual and developmental disabilities include Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, cognitive disabilities, and other similar conditions, which occur prior to the age of 18 and are expected to last throughout an individual’s lifetime. The Arc promotes self-sufficiency and civil rights for people with disabilities through community partnerships, support services, peer support and advocacy. The Arc of King County envisions a world where individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities thrive as equal, valued and active members of the community. We put people first, and advocate for individuals to have choices and opportunities to live the life of their dreams. We believe in inclusion because what we want for ourselves, we want for everyone.
