We don't need luck, so we're leaving the Lousiana state line on Friday, September 13, for our second 300-mile journey across the state of Arkansas. Why would people do this one time, yet alone twice?

For the kids.

We do this ride as a benefit for the D.A.R.E. program in Jonesboro. Their name stands for Drug Awareness Resistance and Education. It sounds simple enough, and most of us remember the inception of this program with police officers visiting schools and showing kids drug paraphernalia and telling us why drugs were bad. That was enough for most of us.

Times are different now. These same officers are more than just guest lecturers in our schools. They are positive role models that are fighting one of the most important battles our area of the country can fight. A single trip to Wal-Mart or your local gas station will reveal at least one individual whose life has been touched by methamphetamines. Education and mentorship are the keys to slowing down this trend.

What can you do? It’s simple. You can click the link at the end of this email. You can give $10 (or more, if you are so inspired). $10 is two cups of coffee at Starbucks. It’ll save you 800 calories, if you want to look at it that way. You can also consider it Karma points!

Seriously, though… I know how easy it is to dismiss this kind of emails, but your $10 donation can do so much for our local D.A.R.E. program. Whether you donate or not, I sincerely want to thank you for reading this much of the email. If you choose not to contribute, please do something to help out in your community to ensure our children have a better shot at a promising future!
